Course Objective:
To recapitulate the basic knowledge on minor oral surgical procedures and to refine the practical aspects of surgical skills.

Course Design:
The content of the course comprises of lectures, hands – on and live demo & which is spread on two days.

Day 1:
9 to 9:30 A.M – Registration 
9:30 to 10:00 – Local Anesthesia 
10:00 to 10:30 – Exodontia
10:30 to 11:00 – Transalveolar Extraction 
11:00 to 11:30 – Coffee
11:30 to 12:00 – Impacted Teeth
12:00 to 1:00 – Cysts 
1:00 to 2:00 – Lunch 
2:00 to 2:30 – Biopsy 
2:30 to 3:00 – Alueoloplasty 
3:00 to 5:00 – Suturing Techniques (Demo & Hands On)

Day 2: 
9:00 to 11:00 – Impacted Tooth Removal (Live Demo) 
11:00 to 12:00 – Impacted teeth – X ray discussions. 
12:00 to 1: 00 – Medical emergencies in Dental Office. 
1:00 to 2:00 – Lunch 
2:00 to 2:30 – Bleeding
2:30 to 3:00 – Infections 
3:00 to 3:30 – Surgical Endodontics 
3:30 to 4:30 – Trauma 
4:30 Onwards – Coffee, Certificates and closing discussions. 

Pericapal surgery is done when there is persisting periapical infection after root canal treatment. Case selection is important for successful treatment.

• The steps are flap elevation
• Periapical lesion excavation
• Apicoectomy
• Cavity preparation in the root apex
• Retro-fill
• Flap replacement followed by sutures

Additional factors that the surgeon must be aware of are Bone grafts, biologic derivatives like platelet rich fibrin and membrane placement. This one day course will guide the surgeon through these steps along with a live demonstration.

Short term training for Phaco/SICS

• 1 Week to 15 days
• Once or twice a week for local Ophthalmologist
• Customized as per req. of trainee
• No of surgeries – approximately 10 Nos
• Course Fees 50K
• Extra Surgeries: 5K per surgery

Eligibility Criteria

  The goal is to target the Ophthalmologists who have recently completed MS/DO/DNB & want surgical exposure.

Requirement for trainee before joining

• Good skills in eye handling under microscope
• Experience in ECCE for SICS & Experiences in SICS & capsulorhexis for Phaco training
• Knowledge of Phacodynamics Recommended to read the book Phacodynamics by Barry Seibel.
• Observe many videos & seminars on phacoemulsifcation

• The Operation Theatre functions between 7am to 12 noon (approx) daily.
• There is an average of 10 to 15 operations every day.
• You will be in the theatre everyday between 7am to 12 noon (approx) (from Monday to Saturday)
• You will be able to observe and you will eventually assist various procedures.
• There will be no formal hands-on surgical training, however, during this time you will be allowed to perform some steps under supervision.
• After the operation theatre is complete, you will spend a few hours at the Temporal Bone Laboratory.
